USE OF THE ARTIFICIAL GRASS PITCH (AGP), AUGUST 2018-UPDATE
Now that the AGP is nearing completion we need to inform you of some of the procedure and rules regarding the booking and use of the pitch. At the present time the 12 free hours which we are allowed have been booked on a Tuesday and Thursday nights, a Saturday afternoon and a Sunday. The times on a Sunday will be altered to reflect any games or training sessions that are going on at the time. Alterations or additions to bookings can only be made by the AGP administrator which at the present is Geoff Matthews.
Below is a brief summary of the rules that exist when using the pitch. We are notifying you now so that you can raise any queries before the season starts:
• Boots with BLADES are not allowed. Boots must have RFU approved studs or moulded soles.
• Boots must be cleaned before entering the pitch, there are boot cleaners just after the entrance gates.
• Any tape/strapping/bottles or other rubbish should be placed in the dustbins and not left lying around the pitch.
• Parents and supporters should remain outside the pitch barriers.
• Anybody else with access to the pitch e.g. coaches, managers, first aiders etc. must wear the appropriate footwear.
• If possible!!! Please try and keep kids off the pitch after the game if they don’t have the appropriate boots on.
• For training purposes, long sleeve tops and tights may be worn.
• We recommend that each team manager, coach or first aider equips themselves with a supply of antiseptic wipes to clean any grazes or cuts. This is no different from normal but the Club will make available a supply along with other first aid kit.
• Finally we recommend players have a shower after the game…even if it’s just to wash the rubber crumb out of their hair!!!
• Any major incident or accident which occurs on any of the pitches needs reported in the normal way .We are currently involved in an RFU long term survey where they are monitoring the number and type of accidents and injuries on different types of pitches.
Each team will have to nominate at least one person to attend a short induction session at a time and date to be circulated prior to the season starting. Teams cannot use the AGP until at least one representative has attended that meeting. In the meeting we will answer any queries, explain how our free hours have been allocated and explain in greater detail how the booking system works.
The intention is to maximise the use of the AGP for training thus leaving the other two pitches in decent condition for actual games. We want to ensure that all teams at all ages have a fair opportunity to use the pitch and so a rota will be circulated which will detail training times and locations throughout the season. Other than the Frenchfield pitches, the Club will not fund any external training locations this season. e.g.; Newton Rigg/Leisure centre.
