U14 Girls v Richmondshire Sunday 6th November

Tough win away in misty Yorkshire

The u14 girls travelled across the A66 to misty damp and muddy Richmond for a tough test against Ricmondshire RUFC

Being able to travel with 18 players meant we were able to help Richmondshire with 3 players, enabling a 15 per side game to be played. Very important to us as we start to experiment with players in more permanent positions/roles.

The game was ably refereed by one of the Richmond coaches as they had been let down by the arranged ref - not easy to go from coach to ref, so our thanks for that.

The game started slowly for Penrith - some initial disorganisation and a strong attacking start from the hosts saw the score first. On the back foot from the restart Penrith struggled to get back into the game for the first third, despite the first Penrith score from Lara.

Not until mid way through the second third did Penrith apply enough sustained pressure to gain the upper hand in the scoring.

The tackling from both sides was particularly strong at times, and credit to both sides, as the game went on and injuries occurred, changes were made to allow the game to continue with almost full teams until the final whistle.

PRUFC ran out eventual winners at 6 tries to 4, with Richmond pushing all the way.

Penrith can be very pleased with the way they were able to re-group and overcome a poor start, injuries, tough conditions and loaning of players to turn the game around and come out as winners despite being pushed until the last minute. Well done.

Bianca was voted player of the match by Richmond for her strong and elusive running and Penrith chose Belle as Richmond's player of the match
