PRUFC Girls were pleased to welcome a team of Caldy complemented by Cockermouth to Winters Park. Having a good sized squad for the week, Penrith gladly lent the combined visitors 3 players to ensure a 'proper' game of 15 per side could take place. We must say at the outset thank you to everyone who mucked in from Penrith, Caldy and Cockermouth to get two full teams out as the experience is in valuable
As one may have expected the visitors did struggle to gel a little at the outset as a combined team, and Penrith started the 1st third with a strong run and try by Emilia Stamper. Next up was a score from Lara.
Penrith did win each third quite comfortably; this is not to diminish the opposition effort - Penrith were made to work for each and every score, and the visitors to their credit did construct some decent phases of attack resulting in a score during the middle third. As the game went on the visitors gelled further and held the ball for longer in attack and stood firm for longer in defence despite sapping, muddy conditions.
We are pleased to report Lara was successful in scoring the teams first conversion in a competitive game from a try scored by Paige.
A big thank you to the visiting girls who travelled quite some distance and to the Penrith girls who happily took their turn to help the opposition, well done!
Thank you once more to Finn for being the man in the middle
